Who We Are
Hands 4 Building is a company created by an educator, engineer and craftsman. Our mission is to empower teachers and parents to provide hands-on STEM engineering experiences for kids & teens.
Hands 4 Building is based in Portland, Oregon. We began as a summer enrichment program in 1990 and we have found what works. Our student-friendly tools, scalable blueprints, sustainable basswood and step-by-step instructional curriculum have endured the test of time.
Dennis Scott, founder of Hands 4 Building, saw the need to include the engineering element in STEM in every product he brought to market .As a builder he understands the importance of kids following a blueprint and using real tools and materials to MEASURE, SAW, SAND and ASSEMBLE. Kits with pre-made plastic parts and pieces do not provide the opportunity for kids to learn from their mistakes.
Dennis created our Starter Kits and Add-On Project Packs from everything he learned from serving 1000+ students. His aim is to assist YOU in engaging students in the relevant integration of STEM engineering concepts.
Baila Scott came on board as a special education teacher with 22 years experience in writing and implementing curriculum. Her organizational skills and expertise in breaking large tasks into small steps is a perfect fit for Hands 4 Building. Baila empowers parents and teachers to use our tools, blueprints and materials in their own living room, classroom, maker space, after school or coop program. She helps customize any order to fit your individual needs. Have questions? She is always happy to chat with you!
Hands 4 Building offers the integrity and commitment to service of a long-time family-owned business who gladly get their hands dirty to make sure you get the product and service you need to be successful.
